Comprised of leaders and innovators in the medical, wellness, and scientific communities, the AmeriSciences® Scientific Advisory Board ensures that all AmeriSciences products are the best in the market today and long into the future. By participating in manufacturing standards, research and development, and clinical trials, the Scientific Advisory Board members are the first in the industry to truly make a difference in consumer products. However, AmeriSciences Scientific Advisory Board encompasses more than just leadership in research and development. Through consumer interaction, communication, and education, its members will revolutionize how individuals perceive and eventually achieve their mental and physical well-being.

It is AmeriSciences’ honor to present the following members of the Board:
  Dr. Ryan Brown

Considered one of the country’s leading experts on neurological disease research, Dr. Ryan Brown is the founding director of The Cleo Roberts Center for Clinical Research at the Sun Health Research Institute in Sun City, Arizona. The board-certified neurologist has served as principle investigator on more than 30 clinical trials related to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases and has conducted research on prostate cancer and arthritis. Dr. Ryan received his bachelor’s degree from University of California at Berkeley before earning his medical degree from the University of Arizona. After completing his residency in neurology at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Ryan participated in the fellowship program studying geriatric neurology and dementia at the University of California-San Diego School of Medicine. In addition to his ongoing clinical research, Dr. Ryan is the staff neurologist at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) and serves the medical field working in a number of educational capacities.
  Dr. Ruby Watkins

With over 25 years as a board-certified physician, Dr. Ruby Watkins is co-founder of Lake Norman Wellness and a member of the Carolina Wellness Group based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she has a private practice in emergency medicine and primary care with a strong focus on prevention and wellness. Dr. Watkins received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College, her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and attended the residency program at Boston University Affiliated Hospitals. She has been practicing in the greater Charlotte area since 1996.
  Dr. Barbara Howard

Integrating wellness and prevention into her Logan, West Virginia-based practice since 2003, Dr. Howard has more than 15 years experience in internal medicine and pediatrics. She earned undergraduate degrees in biology and cytotechnology from Concord College and Marshall University, respectively, before earning her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Howard completed her internship at Logan General Hospital and residency at West Virginian University’s Robert C. Byrd School of Medicine. She is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and has been a principal investigator in multiple Phase III and Phase IV trials. Additionally, she serves as an associate professor of clinical medicine at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, director of medical education for the Logan Regional Medical Center and medical director for Dignity Hospice.
  Dr. Richard Voll

Dr. Voll is a board certified Family Practitioner with certification in Geriatrics. With a background in military medicine, rural practice and now a suburban practice, he has witnessed the continuing growth of preventable medical conditions. Dr. Voll's credentials are many, including but not limited to, member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society, American College of Physician Executives and the American Geriatric Society. In the business arena, he is the managing partner of Independent Medical Practice Support and the Chief Professional Services Officer for Doctors Network of America and Voll Medical Management Solutions. He has held the position of Chief of Family Practice at several of the Jackson, MS metropolitan area hospitals and been Medical Director of several local nursing homes.
  Dr. Thomas Addy

In private family practice since 2003, Dr. Thomas Addy is a physician certified by the American Board of Family Medicine who has incorporated wellness and preventative care into his medical philosophy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Siena College in 1996 before attending Albany Medical College where he earned a combined bachelor’s and medical degree in science, humanities and medicine in 2000. Dr. Addy completed his residency with the Bayfront Medical Center in Tampa where he later served two years as clinical faculty. A former member of the American Academy of Family Physicians Committee on Clinical Policy and Research, he is also a multi-disciplinary wellness practitioner as medical director for Dr. Bernstein’s Health and Diet Clinics and the Allure Center for Wellness, which focuses on nutrition, psychology, and preventative medicine.
  Barry Smith

An innovator in the fields of nutraceutical product development, Barry Smith is AmeriSciences’ resident molecular biologist and formulation scientist. In his role at AmeriSciences, Mr. Smith serves as the company’s Director of Product Development and Quality Assurance. Furthermore, as AmeriSciences Liaison, Mr. Smith works directly with the Scientific Advisory Board to create the company’s science-based nutritional supplements. He is a certified pharmaceutical auditor with expertise in good manufacturing practices, quality control and quality assurance having served as a contributor and consultant to several esteemed medical organizations. In addition, he brings to AmeriSciences his knowledge of regulatory affairs, both domestically and internationally, having successfully registered products in over 40 countries worldwide.
  Dr. Daniel Crawford

With more than 25 years practicing medicine, Dr. Daniel Crawford owns and operates a private family practice in Longwood, Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry at McGill University in Montreal, Canada before attending medical school at the University of The West Indies, Kingston Jamaica. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Crawford is a former chairman of the Quality Assurance, Utilization, Credentials Review and Peer Review committees for Humana. He is considered one of the leading family practitioners in the Orlando metropolitan area and has been the recipient of numerous awards for patient satisfaction and quality of care.
  Dr. John Howell

With 24 years in private practice, Dr. John Howell is board certified in general surgery by the American Medical Association (AMA) and currently presides as chief of staff for the Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, West Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and attended medical school at the renowned Cairo University in Egypt before completing his residency with the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. In addition to his career as a leading surgeon, Dr. Howell served 20 years as a clinical professor for the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for 20 years teaching surgery to medical students, residents and physician assistants. He has co-authored several articles published in various medical journals outlining groundbreaking results of surgical studies in which he has participated.
